Volunteer Event
Volunteer Call: Tara, Laro Tayo!
Are you ready to make a difference through the power of sport?
We are seeking energetic volunteers to help us introduce rugby to the youth of Davao, fostering teamwork, discipline, and community spirit.
Roles We Need
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just someone who loves working with kids, there’s a spot for you:
- Volunteer Coaches: Help teach the basics of rugby (passing, tagging, and teamwork) through game-based activities. No professional experience? Don’t worry — we will guide you!
- Ates & Kuyas: Provide mentorship, facilitate games, and ensure the kids have a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.
The Global Goals
This initiative directly supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Promoting physical activity and mental wellness through team sports.
- SDG 4: Quality Education – Teaching life skills such as leadership, respect, and discipline outside the classroom.
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Providing equal access to sports opportunities for youth from various backgrounds.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Collaborating between local clubs (Davao Durians) and volunteer platforms (iVolunteer PH) to strengthen community impact.
How to Join
Be the reason a child discovers their potential today. Whether you’re blowing a whistle on the field or cheering from the sidelines as a mentor looking to give back, your presence matters.
Location: SOS Children's Village - Davao, SOS Drive, JP Laurel Avenue, Brgy. Wilfredo Aquino, Davao City
Sign-up: Visit the iVolunteer PH website and search for "Davao Durians" to register your interest.
Orientation: Volunteer orientation will be on January 28th via Google Meet
What to bring:
- Water
- Food for sharing (optional, but highly encouraged)
- Change of clothes
- Appropriate sport attire with running/trail/football shoes
- Optional: Sunscreen, arm sleeves, cap
- Decent conditioned “hand me down" or “like new, outgrown” clothing items. A “Love Box” will be set up for the donated items.
We don’t just build athletes; we build a more resilient community. This is your chance to lead, inspire, and show the youth of Davao that they have a team standing right behind them.
Are you in? The field is ready, the kids are waiting—all we’re missing is YOU.
Tara, laro tayo! Let’s build a stronger community, one try at a time.
