The ability to read is a fundamental right, yet many young Filipino children struggle to grasp this essential skill. At Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. (BINHI), we're working to change that, one child at a time. As a Volunteer Tester, your support will provide us with crucial insights into our BINHI Scholars' development, ensuring we're effectively boosting their English language skills and fostering their academic growth.

About the Project

Founded in 2008, BINHI aims to improve English reading skills among identified non- and frustrated readers, aged 4-8, in public elementary schools and community centers through its 100-day free reading program.

The program runs for 20 weeks. Pupils are tested three times during the program period: pre-test, mid-test, and post-test. We are almost done with our program, and thus, we are preparing for the post-test. Tester volunteers will help conduct one-on-one tests with Kindergarten to Grade 2 students, based on their chosen schedule from February 2 to 13 at their chosen partner site/s. Each test is expected to last around 10-15 minutes.

To ensure volunteers are well-prepared, a virtual self-paced training module will be shared followed by a Regrouping Orientation via Google Meet.

Volunteer Duties

• Review the volunteer testers' module released via Canva Sites
• Attend a virtual orientation prior to the testing schedule
• Allot at least 3 hours of their time based on their chosen schedule/s
• Travel to any of the following areas: Calamba City, Manila City, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque City, Pasay City, Pasig City, and Quezon City
• Facilitate a one-on-one assessment with our Kindergarten to Grade 2 BINHI scholars

Timeline of Activities

• January 24, 2026 (Saturday) at 1:00 PM – Release of BINHI Volunteer Tester Module via Canva Sites
• January 24-31 2026 – Self-paced Learning for BINHI Volunteer Tester Module (Asynchronous via Canva Sites)
• January 31, 2026 (Saturday) at 10:00 AM – BINHI Volunteer Testers' Regrouping Orientation (Synchronous via Google Meet*)

* A Google Calendar invite with the Google Meet link will be sent at least a week before the Regrouping Orientation
