To bring farmed animals issues in the Philippines to the forefront through empathy and evidence-based community efforts to help farmed animals and fellow Filipinos.
Animal Empathy Philippines (AEP), founded in 2021, is the first nonprofit organization in the Philippines dedicated to advancing the welfare of farmed animals through empathy-driven and evidence-based approaches. The organization works to bring farmed animal issues into national and community conversations by building partnerships with local governments, academic institutions, advocates, and other stakeholders across the country.
Guided by the understanding that the well-being of animals, people, and the environment is interconnected, AEP invests in research and partnerships to generate evidence and inform policies that strengthen systems for disaster preparedness, disease prevention, and community resilience. These efforts help ensure that farmed animal welfare is considered in planning and decision-making processes that affect public health, livelihoods, and environmental sustainability.
AEP’s flagship initiative, the Bayanihan for Farmed Animals (BFF) Program, focuses on reducing the unnecessary suffering of farmed animals during disasters and disease outbreaks by strengthening preparedness measures, promoting evidence-based solutions, and supporting multi-stakeholder collaboration. Through these initiatives, AEP aims to create practical pathways for individuals, institutions, and communities to contribute to improving the lives of farmed animals across the Philippines.
